‘Cellist at Jazz Connection: Talk and recital Wednesday, August 11

Andrea Case, a classical cellist from Calgary, spent three months in New York City studying jazz, improvised music, and alternate uses of the cello. Come and hear her speak about how expanding her ear has expanded her outlook on what an instrument can do outside of conventional boundaries! You will hear wonderful examples of wild, weird and wonderful styles of playing which use the cello in many different genres. Our next casino will be held in July, August or September of 2010. We will be looking for volunteers to assist with this fundraiser. Please remember that money from this and other fund-raising projects helps reduce the cost of the CASSA camps to families by about 50%. CASSA thanks the volunteers who helped at the January 2009 casino.
